Emerging cross-basin challenges in terms of spatial analysis and modeling
4. Key message/highlights
Emerging challenges and first lessons learnt from cross-basin collaboration on spatial analysis and modeling
This will be the main TWG group meeting
Short abstract(150 words) including:
A topic working group meeting will take place in Addis the week before the Forum. It aims at sharing ideas, knowledge and methodological connected to spatial analysis and modelling across the basin.
The group will start with a study visit to one of the NBDC study site, and based on the real case study discuss emerging issues connected to hydrological modelling as well as investigate how to introduce socio-economic/institutional variables into spatial analysis. The aim of the TWG is to identify cross basin issues, create a pool of relevant knowledge and resources that can be used across basins as well as a network of scientist that can collaborate with each other on these issues.
During the Forum we would like to report from this meeting and get a slot to increase the network of scientists as well as knowledge and resources to be added to the pool. We would like to have a wild card for this session, and develop the content in a collaborative way during the TWG meeting the week before the forum. This approach allows to come up with the first lessons learnt from cross basin collaboration.
Your preliminary highlights for the Forum capitalizing sessions
We hope to come up with :
a list of similar issues in terms of spatial analysis and modelling
a pool of approaches and resources to be used across basins
a network of scientists that know each other and that can easily collaborate
first lesson learnt from cross basin collaboration
